| Psalm 23
A psalm of David. 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, [a] I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
First of all my prayers are with those who have lost their dear loved ones. There is nothing greater in this world than life itself and it is a tragedy what the people of New Orleans and other coastal cities are going through right now. I can only imagine the pain they feel. Sometimes we seem to take for granted the things we do everyday, simple things like filling your car up with gas, turning on your lights so you can read the newspaper, leaving the TV on so you can sleep just a little bit easier. These things are things that for months people along our gulf coast will not be able to do. But these are the small things, a house can be rebuilt, a car can be repurchased electricity will eventually turned back on. Then there are the irreplaceable's. A mother cannot replace her son, a father cannot replace his daughter. A husband can never replace his loving wife of 35 years, sure he can re-marry but not to the girl he fell in love with 35 years ago and had 2 kids with. Love cannot be replaced. Someone else can step in or try to take over the spot but you will never forget the love you had, not if its true love. Sure we tell each other as friends that we love each other and we do have friends that we love, but little things wont remove that. A small argument cant make it go away, not if its really love. So I tell you this, you should confront those you really love and express this to them in every way because you never know when your last step will be. Hug your dad and kiss your mother, call your little brother or older sister on the phone, just to talk. I guarantee you there are thousands of people right now who would love to say those three little words to someone but will never in their life on earth have the chance to do so again. Stop taking things for granted and live life like it were ending.
